Monroe AYSO in conjunction with the Monroe Soccer Club, will award up to two $1500 College Merit Scholarship to graduating seniors. We will award a male and female award if we have qualified applicants. The criteria for determining the recipients includes but is not limited to the following:

- Commitment to further education.
- Grade point average ("B" minimum).
- Devotion to the sport of soccer.
- A span of AYSO and MSC involvement with a minimum of two years in each.
- Degree of AYSO and MSC involvement (player, referee, assistant coach, etc.).
- Notable soccer achievements (all-conference, etc.).
- Demonstrated leadership qualities (team captain, etc.).
- Conduct on and off the field (community involvement, etc.).

To be considered for a merit scholarship the player must submit a letter to the AYSO/MSC Review Board by May 31, 2012. The letter should request consideration and indicate why the applicant believes they are deserving of the award (as per the above criteria).

The AYSO/MSC Review Board will consider all requests and recommend a winner(s) for a full board approval.

We will have our U8, U10 and U12 picture day on Saturday May 19. Pictures will be taken at Great Hollow Lake or Fawn Hollow depending on your teams schedule. Coaches will be handing out the picture forms and the picture schedule prior to your respective picture date.

Monroe AYSO will be sponsoring a team to run in the upcoming Sprint for Monroe 5K running race on Sunday June 3 at Wolfe Park. All coaches, players and parents are encouraged to sign up to run/walk the course together as part of AYSO. To receive the team rate of $12 please include "Team AYSO" on your application form. If we have your information by May 21, you will be able to wear a custom AYSO T-shirt on race day. Monroe AYSO is proud to announce that Monroe AYSO will once again sponsor the Celebration of Reading on Thursday April 5, 2012. AYSO, along with MSC will provide all of the books for The Celebration of Reading event. Community leaders will read books to the four Monroe Elementary Schools (Fawn Hollow, Monroe El, Stepney, St. Judes) for the grades Kindergarten thru 5th grade. Monroe AYSO is once again proud to support this community event.

Parents

Please do not drop off your child at any field without first finding your coach. This is very important. Parents are just dropping off their children at a parking lot and having their child go to a field unattended. This is especially important at Great Hollow Lake. Parents are just leaving their child at the bottom of the walkway and having their child run up the hill. If a practice or game has be cancelled, and the parent has not received the message, we will have a child on a field without any supervision.

In addition, too many players are telling their coaches that their ride will pick them up at the bottom of the hill or in one of the parks or school parking lots. The coaches can not release the player from practice or a game until they verify the players parent/ride are at the field. 

We want to make sure that all of our players are safe. Please help by following the procedures outlined above.

All Monroe Schools and Monroe Park and Rec have a policy of no dogs on any of their fields. This policy is for both practices and games. Please do not bring your dogs or any pets to the Monroe fields.
